History

Formed to represent archival institutions in British Columbia, the B.C. Archives Council (BCAC) was incorporated as society S-21481 on June 30, 1986. The BCAC was made up of representatives of various institutional archives in British Columbia. The main role of the Council was to adjudicate the BC applications for federal grant money. The Council amalgamated with the Association of British Columbia Archivists on October 13, 1990 to form the Archives Association of British Columbia (AABC). With the merging of these two organizations the new organization (AABC) represents archival institutions and archivists in British Columbia
