History

The Advisory Council, Provincial Civilian Protection Committee was formed in March 1942 by Premier John Hart. The mandate of the committee was to advise and assist the Provincial Committee for the Organization of Air Raid Precautions (chaired by John Hart) in the organization of air raid precautions in the province. The chairman of the Advisory Committee was W.C. Mainwaring, of the B.C. Electric Company.

Through OIC 491/1942, the Advisory Council was merged with the Civilian Protection Branch of the Provincial Police and made the operating committee responsible for training, dissemination of information and providing grants to local groups for the purchase of air raid equipment.

The Advisory Council was closed down in September 1945.
