This fonds is something of an artificial creation because of the lack of documentation about the custodial history and acquisition of the photo albums.
Frank McClellan Sylvester was born in Lockport, New York around 1861. By 1906 he was living in Spokane, Washington where he worked for an engineering firm. In 1910 he arrived in Phoenix, British Columbia to take up a position with the Granby Conslidated Mining, Smelting and Power Company under J. P. Graves, the General Manager of the company. In 1912 Sylvester became Vice President and General Manager of the company and moved to Vancouver. He resigned in 1920 and is thought to have died around 1924.

The file consists of a photograph album created around 1919 featuring the activities of the Granby Mining, Smelting & Power Company at Phoenix, B.C. under the management of F.M. Sylvester. The album contains photographs of Phoenix from 1899 to 1914 including the townsite as well as winter scenes. There are also photographs of the mines and works from about 1902 to 1919.
The album has been put together in a decorative way with the business card of F.M. Syslvester, General Manager mounted on the inside cover. The photographs are arranged on each page in novel ways with decorative ink tracings. Most of the photographs are identified and many are dated. The album may have been created as a presentation album for Sylvester, who retired from Granby Consolidated Mining, Smelting and Power Co. in 1920.
Album pages are numbered from 1 to 28 (no. 19 and 25 missing) and 1 unnumbered page. This numbering may have been added later.
The string binding has been removed and some of the pages may be out of order.

The file consists of a photograph album created around 1916 featuring the activities of the Granby Mining, Smelting & Power Company at Anyox, B.C. under the management of F.M. Sylvester. The album contains 89 photographs of Anyox from 1910 to 1915 including the townsite, the wharf, waterfront, landscape and winter views. There are also photographs of the mines, smelter, sawmill, falls and powerhouse including the route from the smelter to the mine. In addition there are photographs of the old and new hospital along with one of W.H. Dickson, M.D.
The album has been put together in a decorative way with the business card of F.M. Syslvester, General Manager mounted on the inside cover. The photographs are arranged on each page in novel ways with decorative ink tracings. Only a few of the photographs are identified or dated.

The file consists of a photographs album containing 20 photographs of Anyox and various drawings created by or for F.M. Sylvester around 1915.
There are photographs of the mess house and rooming house at Anyox, accompanied by architectural drawings, as well as other buildings under construction. In addition, there are photos of the wharf, powerhouse and machinery. There are general photographs including an image of a man on horseback, mounted heads of mountain sheep and moose and the power house falls. There are several photographs of ships including the Granby Villard, the Granby Turner and the S.S. Turret Crown, the photo of which also contains a technical drawing and information about the ship.
The volume also includes two prints of pressure gauge recordings for the R.M.S. Niagara, one for oil fuel and one for coal fuel, both dated 1913.
The pages have been numbered from 62 to 80, with gaps. These page numbers may have been added later.
