Biographical history

Frank McClellan Sylvester was born in Lockport, New York around 1861. By 1906 he was living in Spokane, Washington where he worked for an engineering firm. In 1910 he arrived in Phoenix, British Columbia to take up a position with the Granby Conslidated Mining, Smelting and Power Company under J. P. Graves, the General Manager of the company. In 1912 Sylvester became Vice President and General Manager of the company and moved to Vancouver. He resigned in 1920 and is thought to have died around 1924.

The fonds consists of six photo albums created or acquired by F.M. Sylvester while he was Vice-President and General Manager of the Granby Consolidated Mining, Smelting and Power Co. Ltd. between 1912 and 1920.
