At Ashnola, May 24, 1892

The file consists of one album of 22 photographs, including front and back covers, created to commemorate a gathering at Ashnola on Queen Victoria’s birthday. Photographs include portraits of friends of the Langley family (including the Dunsmuir and Turner families). The order of the album follows the order of the events of the day, including a regatta at the Gorge.

Most photographs have been cut into circles and adhered to album pages with unknown adhesive. They have been decoratively framed with 2-3 hand drawn concentric circles in blue ink. Additional identifying text possibly added by Archives staff, Craigdarroch staff, or the donor.

British Columbia general views and Victoria and vicinity

Series consists of 382 photographs produced primarily by Hannah or Richard Maynard. Other photographers may also be identified on some negatives. Images depict locations around Victoria, including downtown, Beacon Hill, Esquimalt, and the Gorge, as well as other places within British Columbia that could not be otherwise attributed to the Maynard's field photography. Scenes include Victoria street scenes, churches, the Inner Harbour, regattas, farming, and forests.

First bridge over the Gorge, Victoria Arm

Item consists of one photograph depicting the first Gorge Bridge (ca. 1850-1867), crossing The Gorge waterway at Victoria Arm, Victoria, B.C. The bridge was constructed using only four logs. Pictured left to right are Albert Maynard and J.M. Reid.

Gorge Waterway, Victoria

Item consists of a mount of one photograph on card of the Gorge Waterway. Banks with overhanging trees can be seen on both sides. A man is fishing on the left bank, another is looking into the water on the right bank. In the distance, trees and at least two houses can be viewed. "Armfelt. Victoria." is captioned in the bottom left of the photograph.

Footage. Island Tug & Barge vessels and operations on the BC coast and the open Pacific. The first roll, which relates specifically to the operation of the tugs "Sudbury" and "Sudbury II", comprises outs from the film SAGA OF THE SUDBURYS (shot by tug skipper W.H. Blagborne and produced by Parry Films for IT&B). The second roll (which does not relate to the SUDBURY film) shows a barge removing the span of the old Point Ellice Bridge in Victoria; the opening of the new bridge in 1957; a tug towing a scow to Nitinat Bar; the tug "Lloyd B. Gore" towing the old sternwheeler "Delta King" to San Francisco; the "Island Sovereign" towing a dredge platform at sea; vessels at dock in Victoria.
