Track 1: Clarisse Hill describes her early years with her mother. Clarisse was not domestic and did not do housework until her mother became sick in the 1960s. Clarisse's mother was a very dominant character. This is reflected upon by Clarisse during the interview. Talks of sewing classes at Girls' Central. Talks of starting into a hairdressing career.

Track 2: Describes the duties of a hairdresser. Keeping the fires going, working long hours -- for $5.00 a week. Describes some hairdressing techniques. Feels that prior to WWII the hairdressers were content with the working conditions. Most men they worked on were loggers. Describes sewing at the beach by Ross Bay Cemetery.
