History

William Kaye Lamb was born in New Westminster in 1904. He was educated at the University of British Columbia, the Sorbonne and the London School of Economics. He served as Provincial Archivist and Librarian from 1934 to 1940. He was the University Librarian at U.B.C. from 1940 to 1948 before becoming the Dominion Archivist from 1948 to 1969. During this period he was also the National Librarian from 1953 to 1967. He died in Vancouver in 1999.
