History
Harold T. Nation was born at Dunedin, New Zealand in 1876 and graduated from London (Eng.) University in 1896 with a degree in civil engineering. He arrived in British Columbia in 1897, and in 1906 became assistant to the Provincial Mineralogist in Victoria, W. Fleet Robertson. Over the course of his long career with the provincial government, Harold Nation travelled throughout the province, to previously-unexplored areas. He documented his field work with photographs, and prepared detailed maps and reports. He spent three years with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in Europe from 1914 to 1917, and then returned to his position with the BC Bureau of Mines. Harold Nation died in Victoria in 1967.
