Name of creator
Salvatore Billeci was a researcher who lived in San Francisco, California.
Scope and content
The collection consists of Salvatore Billeci's research and writing about the experiences of Stuart Thompson of Ripon, California, who sailed aboard the "Carmencita" on a sealing expedition in 1904. Thompson served as the ship's freight clerk and became acquainted with Captain Alexander MacLean, the alleged prototype for the character "Wolf" Larson in Jack London's novel "The Sea Wolf". In addition to Billeci's oral history interviews with Thompson, the fonds also includes Billeci's typescript "Five Months With The 'Sea Wolf'" (9 p.), edited and condensed from the interviews, and a KCBS radio script (ca. 1952) about Thompson's story (3 p.).
