The item is a release print of a travelogue from 1967. It depicts the attractions of Alaska and the Yukon Territory; includes CN's "Northland Prince" leaving Vancouver harbour and sailing up the Inside Passage to Alaska. Narration includes excerpts from the poetry of Robert W. Service.

RECORDED: [location unknown], 1976-04-03 SUMMARY: TRACK 1: Coming to Canada. Married 1908. Fishing at Blackfish. Trollers. Cannery operations before 1908, including the "Iron Chink" salmon butchering machine. Story of a close call at sea in the Aleutians. Halibut fishing. Went to Bering Strait before 1908. First fishing boat. Ranching in Alberta after WWI; hard hit by the Depression. His grandfather settled on Orcas Island and grew hay. [Mr. Still grew up on Orcas.] TRACK 2: Probably made trip to the Bering Sea in 1903 or later. Rowboat fishing. Fish abundant. Story of man abandoned by dog team. Eskimos at cannery. More on canneries and fishermen. Fishing methods then and now. Story about towboating and breaking up a log boom.

W.H.T. Olive fonds

The fonds consists of copies of photographs created or acquired by William Henry Trewolla (W.H.T.) Olive during his time in the Klondike gold fields and Atlin, B.C. from 1897 to 1904. The fonds also includes two copies of his memoir of the time, written in 1937.

The 20 black and white photographs appear to have been in a photo album which was probably photographed by the Archives staff around 1939. Copy prints were subsequently printed from the negatives. There are images of Atlin and Discovery B.C.; several have captions or identifying marks written on the original print. At least one of these was taken by A.C. Hirschfeld. There are also two images of Skagway, Alaska, apparently attributed to Case & Draper.

There are two copies of Olive's memoirs, copy 1 has the title "Trail of '98, memoirs of W.H.T. Olive" and copy 2 has the title "W.H.T. Olive : Yukon reminiscences".
