The series consists of a record book volume created by the Police Court at Alert Bay between 1905 and 1910. The entries in the volume show the date, full description of the charge, and the sentence. Entries are handwritten by Walter Woollacott (Provincial Constable), George Ward de Beck (Indian Agent), William May Halliday (Indian Agent/Justice of the Peace) and Arthur William Corker (Justice of the Peace). During this period Alert Bay was part of the County of Vancouver for court purposes.

The item is a b&w photographic print of Chief Sisa-kaulas, , taken by the Reverend John Christie Goodfellow in Alert Bay on August 11, 1924. It was sent to B.A. McKelvie at the "Province" office in Vancouver, from Goodfellow in Port Moody.

Sub-series consists of field photographs taken by Richard Maynard on two tours of inspection of Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia in 1873 and 1874. Maynard accompanied Superintendent of Indian Affairs, Israel Wood Powell, as the photographer on government tours of the west coast of British Columbia on board the H.M.S. Boxer, a gunboat vessel of the Royal Navy.
