The British Columbia Geographic Division was first established in 1912 as the Geographic Branch, a sub-branch of the Surveys Branch in the Dept. of Lands. The name changed in 1919 to Geographic Division until 1971.
Scope and content
Series consists of photographs created by the Geographic Division for use in their 1950 and 1951 annual reports. The reports formed part of the larger report of the Department of Lands and Forests. The files contain photographs, including prints and negatives taken in 1949. All but one of the negatives has an accompanying print. There are multiple copies of some of the prints. The photographs show the Geographic Division staff at work.
