Name of creator
The Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology was renamed the Ministry of Advanced Education in 2001 (OIC 565/2001). The Ministry of Advanced Education provided funding and policy direction for British Columbia's public post-secondary education system, and administers student financial assistance programs. The ministry also administers provincial statutes governing public and private post-secondary institutions.
The Ministry of Advanced Education was renamed the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development in 2008 (OIC 430/2008). At this time, functions related to science were transferred to the Ministry of Technology, Trade and Economic Development. The new Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development gained some additional functions from the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Community Services.
Name of creator
The Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology was established in 1998. Its functions were transferred from the Minister of Employment and Investment, the Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations, and the Minister of Education, Skills and Training (OIC 177/1998). In 2001 it was renamed the Ministry of Advanced Education (OIC 565/2001).
Scope and content
The series consists of annual reports created by different branches of the Adult Services Program. between 1998 to 2004. These programs include: Technology and Services Support Program : Assistance Program for Students with Disabilities; Technology and Services Support Program : Canada Study Grant; Creating Access to Educational Employment Opportunities; and Program for Institutional Loads of Adaptive Technology. These programs serve post-secondary education students with disabilities who can benefit from special technology support services.
