Emily Carr (1871-1945) was a British Columbia artist and writer.
The Inglis collection consists of approximately half of the papers and books that Emily Carr bequeathed to Ira Dilworth, her helpmate and literary executor. When Dilworth died in 1962, Emily Carr's papers were divided between his two nieces and adopted daughters, Mrs. Edna Parnall and Mrs. Phylis Inglis. The Parnall collection (MS- 2763) is also held by the BC Archives. The two collections are complementary, containing correspondence from the same people over the same period of time.
The Inglis collection consists of Emily Carr papers purchased from Phylis Dilworth Inglis by the National Museums of Canada in 1976 and presented to the Provincial Archives of British Columbia in 1985. The collection includes correspondence between Ira Dilworth and Emily Carr, 1941-1945; letters from Lawren Harris to Emily Carr, 1928-1942 and one letter from Emily Carr to Lawren Harris; general correspondence; financial records; journals; manuscripts of stories and addresses; notebooks; manuscripts by George Clutesi and Ira Dilworth; clippings, etc.

There are record books (1909-1919, 1930-1976), which primarily contain meeting minutes, but also include programs, accounts, correspondence, and newspaper clippings. There are also miscellaneous documents that include membership lists, exhibition catalogues, newspaper clippings, correspondence, schedules, meeting notices, and other items. Many of these documents have the name "Jessie Crease" or "J. Crease" written on them, and may have been collected and maintained by Jessie Crease.
Island Arts and Crafts Society : presentation portfolio
The file consists of one hardcover folio, which contains 19 loose artworks created by various artists associated with the Island Arts and Crafts Society (IACS). The portfolio is inscribed with the name "Mrs. N.P. Shaw". The portfolio was presented to Ella Gertrude Shaw, nee Lugrin (Mrs. N.P. Shaw) in March 1925 upon her departure from Victoria to Vancouver. Shaw was a founding member of the IACS and exhibited from 1910-1922 at the Society's annual exhibitions.
