The British Columbia government established a County Court registry at Ashcroft, in the County of Yale, effective February 1, 1922. It was established by Order-in-Council 0151-1922, dated January 31, 1922.
In 1924, a change in the boundary line between the Counties of Yale and Cariboo made by the Counties Definition Act Amendment Act, 1924, situated the town of Ashcroft and vicinity within the County of Cariboo rather than the County of Yale. In 1925, by OIC 0015-1925, in effect, the Ashcroft County Court registry was moved from the County Court of Yale to the County Court of Cariboo.
All County Courts were merged into the Supreme Court on July 1, 1990
