The establishment of a Supreme Court registry at Ashcroft, (County of Cariboo), was ordered by Order-in-Council 0677-1907 dated September 10, 1907, effective October 1, 1907.
On January 31, 1922, Order-in-Council # 0151-1922, established a Supreme Court registry at Ashcroft, to take effect February 1, 1922. (Archivist’s Note: It is possible a change in judicial districts made it necessary to formally establish a new Supreme Court registry at Ashcroft).
Order-in-Council # 0151-1922 also established a County Court registry at Ashcroft (County of Yale).
The Ashcroft court was consolidated into the Kamloops location on 1 August 1997, but the courthouse reopened as an unstaffed circuit court of Kamloops 29 September 1998 for Provincial Court operations only. The Ashcroft registry has not operated since 18 April 2006 although it has not officially been closed..
