Scope and content

Recreational. A 1926 hunting trip in the East Kootenay region. The hunting party comprises Allan H. De Wolf, Claire and Elmore Staples, Bob Grimes, and Barney and Ralph Clifford, with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stevens as guide and cook respectively, and "Cheerful Joe" as Wrangler. The film shows the party on the trail with pack horses, in camp, and hunting bear, deer, elk and mountain goat. Specific locations include Elk Creek, Premier Lake, White River and Whiteswan Lake. There are good sequences on the packing of a pack horse and the skinning of big game. De Wolf's companions on this trip were his partners in the Western Explorations mine at Silverton.

General note

The film material on these four reels comprises about 1,685 feet (ca. 71 minutes) in total. The reels were previously assigned Forestry reel numbers 7, 4, 6 and 1. The four film reels are various sections of a print of the complete film, which was edited and inter-titled in the original. F1985:02/001 and 004 contain the beginning and end of the film; F1985:02/002 is a partial duplicate of 001, with one additional sequence; F1985:02/003 continues 002 in duplicating 001 and contains further (unduplicated) material. There is sufficient overlap between the reels to indicate that more than one complete print is represented here.
