History

Commissioner Frederic W. Howay, Judge of the County Court of New Westminster appointed July 2, 1913, report dated February 23, 1914. Investigated all matters regarding settlers on land in the Chilliwack River area leased by the North Pacific Lumber Company. Under an arrangement with the lessee, Crown grants had been issued to settlers on part of the 4000 acres of lease land with the understanding that all timber rights and privileges would be protected; however, no reserves had been placed on six of the Crown grants. Final report recommended settlement with the company.
