History

Archivist’s Note: The date of the establishment of the County Court at Duncan has not yet been confirmed by BC Archives staff (as of March 2016). It is known that the registry existed in January 1937; at that time, the British Columbia government established a Supreme Court registry at Duncan, and the registrar of the County Court at Duncan was appointed registrar of the new Supreme Court registry. (Source: OIC #0099-1937, Orders-in-Council; British Columbia Gazette 1937, p. 319).

All County Courts were merged into the Supreme Court on July 1, 1990.
