History
The date of the establishment of the County Court at Merritt has not yet been confirmed by BC Archives staff (as of March 2016). It is known that the registry existed in 1921. At that time, the British Columbia government established a Supreme Court registry at Merritt, effective May 11, 1921, and the registrar of the County Court at Merritt at the time was appointed registrar of the new Supreme Court registry.
All County Courts were merged into the Supreme Court on July 1, 1990.
