Administrative history

The British Columbia Express Company, also known as the B.X. Company and Barnard's Express, was a freight and express company which operated a stageline serving the Cariboo region. It was originally established in 1862 by Francis Barnard and was bought in 1886 by Stephen Tingley, who moved its headquarters to Ashcroft. The stageline operated until 1914, when the Pacific Great Eastern Railway and motor vehicles put an end to the horse-drawn stage.
