History
The Ministry of Health was established in 2005 as the successor to the Ministry of Health Services (OIC 450/2005). The ministry was mandated to guide and enhance the province's health services. Its responsibilities were to provide direction and support to service delivery partners; set goals and standards for health service delivery by health authorities; manage provincial health programs including the Medical Services Plan, Pharmacare, B.C. Vital Statistics Agency and Emergency Health Services Commission; and monitor and evaluate the delivery of health services and the health of the population. The Ministry of Health was dissolved in 2008 and replaced by the Ministry of Health Services ( OIC 430/2008).
