History
The Ministry of Natural Resource Operations was established in 2010 (OIC 652/2010). The Ministry's duties, powers and functions were derived from several other Ministries, including:
The duties, powers and functions of the Minister of Agriculture and Lands respecting the Land Program Services and Crown Land Restoration Branches of the Crown Land Administration Division of the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
The duties, powers and functions of the Minister of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources respecting the Aboriginal Relations Branch of the Titles, Aboriginal and Corporate Relations Division of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.
The duties, powers and functions of the Minister of Forests and Range and Minister Responsible for the Integrated Land Management Bureau respecting the First Nations Authorizations Consultation Branch of the Resource Management Coordination Division; the forest investment operations function, including silviculture, of the Regional Operations Division; and the Ecology and Earth Sciences, Bio-ecological Classification Plan Ecology, Wildlife Habitat and Range Ecology, Climatology and Soil Conservation, Fish-forestry Interactions and Watershed and Silviculture Research Sections of the Research, Innovation and Knowledge Management Branch of the Competitiveness and Innovation Division.
The Minister was also made responsible for parts of the Forest Act and Ministry of Forests and Range Act.
The Ministry of Natural Resource Operations was renamed the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources Operations when it gained many of the functions from the disestablished Ministry of Forests, Mines and Lands in 2011 (OIC 62/2011).
