History

Established by Order-in-Council no. 454, February 7, 1977. Multiple reports between 1977 and 1979. Commissioners: Lloyd George MacKenzie (Chairman), Sydney Wallis Welsh, David Hilton Chapman. The Commission's task was to make inquiry into and concerning all aspects of the management and development of the British Columbia Railway and the participation of the Crown as shareholder. This included examining its role in the economy, possible benefits, and government policy alternatives (for example, change the company to autonomous crown corporation status or transfer it to the private sector).
