History

This commission, appointed by Order-in-Council 2044 of 12 June 1975, was the fourth of its kind in British Columbia's history. Records of the earlier commissions, appointed in 1909, 1943 and 1955, are also preserved in the Archives. The appointment of the 1975 Commission and of its Commissioner, University of British Columbia Economics Professor Peter H. Pearse, grew out of the work of the Task Force on Crown Timber Disposal appointed by the Minister of Lands, Forests and Water Resources in 1974. Commission reports are dated September, 1976 and October, 1976.
