History
In 1978, the Vancouver Forest District was renamed the Vancouver Forest Region, however its boundaries remained the same. Between 1978 and 1981, the Region was reorganized to comprise the following smaller Forest Districts: Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, Squamish, Sechelt, Powell River, Duncan, Port Alberni, Campbell River and Port McNeill. These areas were based on the previous Ranger Districts. Some of these districts were amalgamated or renamed over time.
In 2003, the Vancouver Forest Region was renamed the Coast Forest Region. Later on, in 2010, the Coast Region was divided into the West Coast Region and South Coast Region.
