The fonds consists of the Harbour Navigation Company's photographs, which include one album and several loose photos and postcards. These images depict the Wigwam Inn and Belcarra Park (both on Indian Arm), and social activities at those locations, as well as the company's vessels, captains and personnel. Vessels shown include the "Fort Langley", the "Harbour Princess", the "Hollyburn" and the "Scenic". Several photos were taken by the Dominion Photo Company, and some by the Royal Canadian Air Force. The photographs were collected by Joan Hughes from the Harbour Navigation Company and former staff members.

Item consists of one bound volume measuring 30 x 79 cm. It contains 11 blueprints of varying dimensions and one map of the Fraser River and Burrard Inlet, as surveyed by Captn G.H. Richards and the officers of H.M.S. Plumper in 1859-1860. Each plan/map is numbered using white, paper labels adhered in the top right corner. Pages have been bound with the front cover at the back. Handwritten inscriptions repeat an abridged version of the title on the back cover. "Martin -J" is also written on front cover.

The item is an industrial film. It shows the construction of BC Electric's new Lake Buntzen power plant on Indian Arm around 1951. Footage includes demolition (by explosion) of part of the original plant, construction of cofferdam, penstock and tunnel; installation of turbines and generators, official opening with guests arriving on the launch "Hollyburn."

Loading ships at Moodyville, B.C.

Item consists of one photograph of ships being loaded with lumber in the former sawmill community of Moodyville on Burrard Inlet, Vancouver. The sailing ship "Mirzapore" is in the foreground.

Footage. Two rolls of aerial views, presumably culled from various outs for use as stock footage. The first roll, compiled from stock dated 1957 and 1960, shows Second Narrows, False Creek, Stanley Park, Fraser Valley and the Coast mountains, with some overall shots of Vancouver. The second roll, on stock dated 1954 and 1955, consists of low-level aerial views of downtown Vancouver, Burrard Inlet and a logging camp (?); "tilt-ups" from the CPR docks to the North Shore mountains; and some high-level aerial views of the city, one of which is on 1947 stock.

The series consists of records created by the Pacific Great Eastern Railway between 1913 and 1974. The records contain correspondence 1946-1957 re Pension Funds Committee, Inaugural trains 1956, a register of correspondence from 1930-1953, register of accidents 1915-1956; records of dining car and sleeping car sales 1946-1953; certificates (1951) concerning PGE barge #3; employee examinations; tariffs; builders' specifications for diesel locomotives; scrapbooks of newspaper advertisements, etc. and miscellaneous photographs There is also a map of PGE rail lands from Vancouver to Fort George, 1915 and a drawing of a Hart Otis Convertible car from 1913.

Port of Victoria shipping records

Series consists of include lists of vessels leaving the port of Victoria and Burrard Inlet, circa 1859-1874 and an account book, 1868: vessels entering the Port of Victoria, June 1859 - October 1861, November 1863 - November 1865; vessels cleared at the Port of Victoria, October 1861 - April 1887, December 1869 - July 1874 (includes entries for Burrard Inlet, July to September, year not given and Nanaimo, June - October 1872); unidentified account book, January - June 1868.

Saga of the Sudburys

Industrial film. Deep water towing and rescue work by the tugs "Sudbury" and "Sudbury II". "Sudbury" (acquired 1954) tows four tankers from South America in tandem with "Island Sovereign" (longest single line tow in marine history); rescues the freighter "Makedonia"; tows the barge "Straits Maru" (the hull of the Cunard liner "Parthia") to Japan; rescues the Liberty ship "Thunderbird", the "Rowenmore", and the freighters "Lomaland" and "Andros Legend" in the open Pacific. "Sudbury II" (acquired 1958) sails from Australia and is refitted at the company's Victoria headquarters; leaves Victoria for first tow (two Liberty ships) and subsequent service, including rescue of old aircraft carrier "Guadalcanal". Includes scenes of Island Tug and Barge repair shop in Victoria.
