Saga of the Sudburys

Industrial film. Deep water towing and rescue work by the tugs "Sudbury" and "Sudbury II". "Sudbury" (acquired 1954) tows four tankers from South America in tandem with "Island Sovereign" (longest single line tow in marine history); rescues the freighter "Makedonia"; tows the barge "Straits Maru" (the hull of the Cunard liner "Parthia") to Japan; rescues the Liberty ship "Thunderbird", the "Rowenmore", and the freighters "Lomaland" and "Andros Legend" in the open Pacific. "Sudbury II" (acquired 1958) sails from Australia and is refitted at the company's Victoria headquarters; leaves Victoria for first tow (two Liberty ships) and subsequent service, including rescue of old aircraft carrier "Guadalcanal". Includes scenes of Island Tug and Barge repair shop in Victoria.
