History

Joseph Clearihue attended Victoria Boys School, Victoria College (B.C.), and McGill and Oxford Universities. He was a member of the Fifth Canadian Field Artillery Unit in World War I. He later served as a B.C. judge. Clearihue was the first Chancellor of the University of Victoria, serving in that position from 1963 to 1967.
