The file consists of two certificates issued by Lloyd's insurance brokers. The first is dated February 16, 1853 and appoints Peter Skeen (sic) Ogden as an agent at Columbia River and for the coast from Cape Orford to Cape Flattery. The second is dated May 30, 1855 and appoints Alexander Caulfield Anderson as an agent at Columbia River.

The file consists of a transcript titled "Down the Columbia river by canoe" by George Burnet Forde, written in 1916. It contains an account of a trip made in September and October 1915 by the 15 year old G.B. Forde who accompanied his father John Preston Forde, a civil engineer with the C.P.R. and assistant Captain F.P. Armstrong. The purpose of the trip was to examine the possibilities of navigation on the Columbia. The party travelled from Robson, B.C., to Beverly, Washington, by canoe and then onwards by train and steamer to Astoria. There are 21 photographs that accompany the transcript.

The series consists of A.D. Turnbull's official papers as M.L.A., material relating to his time as Minister of Health and Welfare, in addition to his personal papers that reflect his association with various professional, national and community organizations.

This series contains tuilities regulation files and staff reports of the Public Utilities Commission (1929-1972) pertaining to the regulation of private and municipal gas, water, and electric utilities pursuant to the Public Utilities Act. Includes petroleum regulation subject files of the B.C. Energy Commission, Westcoast Transmission Company's rate hearings and pipeline applications (1977-1979), Kitimat pipeline application (1976), records relating to natural gas pipeline applications (1959-1968) and to water power development projects on the Columbia and Peace Rivers (1953-1963), and records of the Puntledge River inquiry (1962).

Travelogue. Made two weeks after the opening of the Big Bend highway and the Banff-Jasper Highway, this film depicts the scenery of British Columbia as seen from the Trans-Canada Highway between Vancouver and Field, with side trips from Jasper to Banff and into the Okanagan Valley.

Travelogue. From Osoyoos to Trail and Nelson by the Southern Trans-Provincial Highway. Footage includes: Cominco smelter; the sternwheeler "Minto" on the Arrow Lakes and at Castlegar; Kootenay River power station; lumbering scenes; car ferry on Kootenay Lake; and Nelson scenes (including the Curling Bonspiel parade).

This series consists of records of the Ministry of Environment (previously the Dept. of Lands, Forests and Water Resources), Power and Special Projects Division. Records include correspondence, feasibility studies, consultants' reports, engineering studies, application hearings, submissions, progress reports, contract drawings and tender documents regarding hydro-electric projects, water licenses, flood control, petroleum refinery pollution, sewerage treatment plants, fisheries and wildlife, and environmental impact, 1949-1976.

The collection largely contains materials relating to Arrow Lakes Dam, 1949, 1954-1969; the Jordan River redevelopment project, 1968-1972; the Babine Lake development (Fulton River dam), 1967-1970; the Columbia River Mica Dam project, 1954-1970; the Duncan Lake storage development, 1971-1973; the Kootenay canal development, and the Portage Mountain development (Peace River W.A.C. Bennett Dam), 1958-1967. It also includes hearings and submissions regarding the Iona Island sewage treatment plant, 1957-1959; records of Canada - B.C. Consultative Committee on the Okanagan basin agreement, 1970; B.C. Comptroller of Water Rights hearings regarding Nechako River, 1949; various B.C. Research Council reports, 1966-1973; and International Joint Commission (U.S. and Canada) hearings, 1955.

The item is a reel of educational file. It contains an analysis of the Columbia River system in both Canada and the USA, with emphasis on hydro-electric power development and the reclamation of arid land in the Columbia Basin. Includes a mini-educational segment on forest fires and water erosion damage caused by fires. The course of the river and those of many of its tributaries are traced.

Stock shots. Compiled from the outs of sundry Parry productions, these rolls include footage of cannery operations, cattle ranching, farming, fishing, a foundry, logging, pipe laying, powerhouse and power line construction (Kemano), sawmilling and shipping. In addition, there are such sequences as an amphibious aircraft landing on a lake and taxiing onto land; a CPA DC-8 airliner taking off and in flight; Kelowna's Royal Anne Hotel; CPR locomotive 374 (retired) at Kitsilano Park; Mission Dam; Okanagan Valley apple blossoms; Rocky Mountain scenery and locales; Stanley Park; a fire in a Vancouver shipyard; and Vancouver's streets, skyline & waterfront. 76.3 has some particularly good mid-1950s Vancouver street scenes (with newsboys hawking papers on busy streets), as well as good footage of the waterfront and docks, various cargoes being loaded or unloaded, etc.

The item is a travelogue. A family enjoys an automobile trip through the Columbia watershed, following the Columbia River from its mouth on the Pacific coast to its source in southeastern British Columbia. En route, there are views of the Valley of the Ten Peaks and the Columbia Icefield, including Athabasca Glacier.
