History

The British Empire and Commonwealth Games of 1954 were held in Vancouver, B.C. from July 30 to August 7. The games were notable for the "Miracle Mile", the race between Roger Bannister and John Landy who had both broken the four-minute mile barrier prior to the games. The athletic events were held at Empire Stadium in Hastings Park, Empire Pool at the University of British Columbia, the PNE and at Vedder Canal in Chilliwack.
