Biographical history
The County Court of Nanaimo “holden at Cumberland” existed by 1898 and presumably earlier. [See: BC Gazette 1898, p. 2385]. In 1952 the County Court registry at Cumberland was closed by OIC #0889-1952, approved and ordered April 18, 1952, effective April 1, 1952. By the same order, the Supreme Court registry at Cumberland was also closed. Also by the same order, registries of the County Court and Supreme Court were established at Courtenay.
