Scope and content

SUMMARY: A documentary based on the personal recordings of Dennis Williams (1921-1974), a British Columbia journalist who served as a court reporter in the Northwest Territories during the early 1970s. Williams' role in the N.W.T.'s unique travelling court took him all over the Canadian North by airplane. It also brought him into close contact with the Inuit and Indian people of the region, for whom he developed considerable empathy. This program is based on a series of taped and written letters he sent to Marjorie Nicol, a friend in Vancouver.
