This episode features readings from the diaries of Reverend Francis Kilvert, an English country curate. Kilvert's diaries, written from 1870 to 1879 in Radnorshire, Langley Burrell, and Herefordshire, document rural life in Victoria England. They were first published in 1938, sixty years after Kilvert's death. The reader is Christopher Newton.;

The fonds conists of four notebook diaries kept by Thomas Frederick Seldon between May 12, 1898 and November 10, 1899 recording his experiences while travelling to the Yukon Territory via the Teslin Route, including the Stikine River, and mining and living in northwestern BC. Also included is a photocopy of a transcript of the diaries and Seldon's letters to his parents in England. This transcript was made in 1996 by Betty and George Seldon.

The series contains a microfilm copy of the diary of the Weir family of Metchosin, 1866-1870. The reel also includes a copy of Adam Weir's Cassiar diary, 1874 and genealogical notes on the Evans family (William Evans, 1802-1883), ancestors of Leighton Evans, coastal mariner.
The fonds consists of an illustrated diary written in a school exercise book of William Law Ogilby's experience as a chainman on a survey of a portion of the western boundary of the Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway Belt on Vancouver Island. A photograph, presumed to have been taken on the survey, depicts Ogilby and two other men at their camp at an unidentified location.
