Administrative history

The Dominion Bridge Company was formed in 1882 and based in Lachine, Quebec. It began operations in British Columbia in 1926, based in Burnaby. The company specialized in steel fabrication and construction, especially of bridges, superstructures of buildings and cranes, and has constructed armaments during both world wars, been involved in various hydroelectric projects and undertaken numerous other steel fabrications and constructions for industry and governments. The Burnaby operation ceased in 1976 and in 1981 the name of the Dominion Bridge Company was changed to AMCA International Limited and in 1990 the name changed again to United Dominion Industries.

The series includes selected sales contract files, indexes and company publications. Unit includes files related to contracts in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Yukon. The series also includes photographs and plans.
