Biographical history
Reverend Edward Francis Wilson was born in London, England, and worked in Ontario with the Diocese of Algoma, founding one of the first Indian residential schools there. He later established a second school at Elkhorn, Manitoba. In 1892, Wilson and his family moved to Victoria, B.C. In 1894, he became the Anglican minister for the Salt Spring Island Parish.

The fonds consists of an illustrated journal/diary of Wilson relating to his work as first resident Anglican clergyman on Salt Spring Island, including details of Wilson's emigration from England to the Indian missions of Ontario, subsequent trips to England and the United States, and residence on Salt Spring Island.
