Diary consists of extracts of old diaries that Roberts compiled in the late 1890s. Roberts edited the contents. Begins with his life in Killucan, Ireland, hist attendance at Manchester Grammar School, and his years studying for a bachelor's degree at Trinity College, Dublin. Closes with Roberts' life in Bayfield, Upper Canada, where Roberts began his life in Canada as a teacher. He wrote in a later diary of his wishes to make extracts from his earlier diaries available to his children.
