Scope and content
The series consists of photographs documenting the search for and excavation of the site of Fort Defiance, on the west coast of Vancouver Island, in 1966 and 1968. Nicholson, as an amateur historian, was involved in this project with Tofino resident Kenneth Gibson and Donald H. Mitchell of the University of Victoria. The series includes several photos of H.R. McMillan during his visit to the site during its excavation in 1968.
