History

Leonard Frank was born in Berne, Germany in 1870. Drawn by gold In 1892 he emigrated to North America, first to San Francisco and then to Alberni on Vancouver Island. He took out Canadian naturalization papers in 1897. He relocated to Vancouver around 1917 and established the Commercial Photo Co. with Orville J. Rognon. He became a leading Vancouver photographer and around 1926-1927 he began using his own name for the business; Leonard Frank Photos. He died in Vancouver in 1944.
