Arrangement

The photographs are arranged by location/subject, although the arrangement is not always consistent. It is presumed that Fred Lade developed the arrangement of the photographs. Photographs (originals, copyprints, and negatives) are arranged primarily by location within alphabetical files (see file level descriptions). Many of the files correspond to locations (Beaton, Ferguson, etc.), however some otherwise correspond to individuals (Mrs. Angus, Mattie Gunterman, etc). It is possible that photographs associated with individuals were collected by Fred Lade from those individuals. Some photographs are arranged by size and there are files that contain oversized mounted prints, the subjects of which relate to other files in the fonds.

Multiple copies of photographs exist--some created by Fred Lade and some created by BC Archives--and these are filed across different files: a copyprint may be found in "E. Trout Lake" while the original is found in "A. Beaton." Staff have aimed to link original photographs with copies without removing photographs from either file.
