Scope and content

The item is an audio recording copy of a radio documentary, made around 1967.
It contains a radio documentary about the life and times of politician H.H. "Harry" Stevens, primarily in his own words. It begins with an outline of his career as a Conservative from 1912-1940; then continues with Stevens' thoughts and reminiscences of Sir John A. Borden, Meighen, Mackenzie King, and R.B. Bennett, and his role as Minister of Trade and Commerce, including the Inquiry Committee of 1935 into Manufacturers and Department and Chain Stores. He discusses his split with the Conservatives and founding the Reconstruction Party.
