Hilda L. Hale was born in Yorkshire, England in 1907. She lived in England, South Africa, Japan, China, Hong Kong and Indian before settling in Oak Bay, near Victoria. She was the founding member of the Asian Art Society of Victoria and was their president for over 20 years. She died in 2007.
