Administrative history

Hayes Trucks Ltd. was established in 1928 under the name Hayes-Anderson Motor Company. It specialized in producing vehicles that were suitable for British Columbia's rugged terrain, whether passenger vehicles or trucks for the resource industries. It became the largest manufacturer of trucks in British Columbia and reached peak production in 1972. A Canadian-owned company, it was sold to a company based in Washington state in 1974 that closed it in the following year.

Custodial history

Tom Everett, a long time employee of Hayes Trucks Ltd. obtained the films when the company closed down in 1975. He held onto the films until January 1991 when he donated the films to the British Columbia Archives Records Service.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of three films showing Hayes logging trucks at work on Vancouver Island and in Newfoundland, and the equipment and operations of the Neal Evans Transportation Company.
