Biographical history

Henry George Thomas "Harry" Perry (March 18, 1889 - December 26, 1959) was an English-born real estate and insurance broker, journalist and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Fort George in the Legislative Assembly from 1920 to 1928 and from 1933 to 1945 as a Liberal. Perry was speaker for the assembly from 1934 to 1937 and served in the British Columbia cabinet as Minister of Education from 1941 to 1945.

Custodial history

After Perry's death the recordings were kept by his son Frank S. Perry. They were then passed down to Leslie Perry, grandson of Henry George Thomas Perry. Leslie Perry expressed an interest in donating the recordings to the BC Archives, and the records were officially offered by Tony Rossi, financial planner, on Perry's behalf.

Scope and content

The recordings are of a talk given by Perry titled "Talk by Mr. Perry", possibly during his time as speaker. The collection comprises four discs, double sided, with each side labelled from Part One to Part Eight.
