History

Fort Kamloops was established by the Pacific Fur Company in 1812. It was located on the banks of the South Thompson River near the confluence of the North Thompson River. The North West Company purchased the Pacific Fur Company in 1813, and the North West Company amalgamated with the Hudson's Bay company in 1821. The fort was active until approximately 1872.
