Thie series consists of an extensive collection of stock shots, depicting a wide range of B.C. Forest Service and Ministry of Forests activities and related subjects. Compiled from footage shot for a variety of purposes, the material was retained for potential use as stock footage in BC Forest Service and Ministry of Forests film productions and TV spots. Some footage was also loaned out for TV news use.

Promotional film. A positive look at chemical spray programs, documenting the successful 1976 control program directed against Douglas Fir Tussock Moth caterpillars in the Kamloops/North Thompson area.

[Range improvement burning, Cranbrook]

Stock shots. Shows prescribed burning of bitterbrush, grass, etc., on a hillside, as a means of range improvement, with shots of the untreated area; Rocky mountain bighorn sheep and elk; crew lighting the burn with drip torches; helicopter with helitorch; and the progress of the fire (including aerial views).

[70 mm camera boom and plotting]

Stock shots. Shows use of boom-mounted camera on a helicopter to take aerial photographs (possibly for forest inventory purposes), and the plotting of the information using punch cards and a computer.

[Mountain pine beetle control project, Smithers/Houston]

Stock shots. Aerial footage of beetle-killed forest, selectively logged areas and chipper mill site. Logging scenes, including shots of skidder, tree snippers, falling trees, front-end loader, loading of logging truck, etc. Shots of infested logs. Arriving at mills, some of the (affected logs) are chipped; other are debarked and milled into railway ties. More shots of infested logs and dead trees.

Stock shots. Footage of forest fire fighting activities at the Noble Fire and Pip Fire, near Kamloops, including ground crews, their equipment and trucks, and lighting unburned material with a flare; A-26 airtanker dropping fire retardent on Pip Fire; ground crew and pumper truck.

Stock shots. Caterpillar tractors using cables to pull down trees (snags?); cats piling slash; crew igniting slash piles with driptorches. Also general views of burned-over area.
