The Upper Bowron River story

Promotional film. The logging and reforestation of the Upper Bowron River watershed, near Bowron Lake Provincial Park. The watershed was heavily logged in the 1980s after areas of blown-down timber became infested with spruce beetles. Salvage logging was carried out to harvest usable timber and prevent the infestation from spreading. Shows reforestation operations, including slash burning and tree planting.

Thie series consists of an extensive collection of stock shots, depicting a wide range of B.C. Forest Service and Ministry of Forests activities and related subjects. Compiled from footage shot for a variety of purposes, the material was retained for potential use as stock footage in BC Forest Service and Ministry of Forests film productions and TV spots. Some footage was also loaned out for TV news use.

Stock shots. First part shows A-26 and Firecat airtankers dropping on a fire in the area of Mica dam. The second part shows a helicopter hovering near a fire and a rapattack crew descending from it.
