SUMMARY: "Audience" was an arts program presented from Vancouver. This episode, "Mystery Play Of The Nativity", is a play about the birth of Jesus Christ, fashioned from the mystery plays performed by the medieval guilds at Chester and York during the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. This production, presented in Ryerson Church in Vancouver on 10 December 10 1980, was a version previously adapted for radio by Andrew Allan. The music is by Healey Willan and performed by the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Chamber Orchestra and instrumentalists conducted by Jon Washburn. The stage production was directed by Peter Haworth; the studio realization of Mr. Haworth's stage production was by Norman Newton and Bill Seebach.

(1) This episode, "The Last Portage And The Height Of Land", is adapted from the journals of poet and civil servant Duncan Campbell Scott (1862;-1947). Scott, a poet and short story writer, became the Deputy Superintendent of the Department of Indian Affairs in 1923. This program, adapted by Peter Haworth, features Scott's Northern journey as a member of the James Bay Treaty Commission in the summer of 1905. "There are distinct differences of style and point of view among Duncan Campbell's Scott's personalities as Poet, Diarist and Official. Therefore these roles will be played by three actors, each representing an aspect of the poet." (2) "The Story Of A National Crime," a docu-drama by Peter Haworth, explores long-suppressed documents from 1922 in which Duncan Campbell Scott's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Peter Bryce, accused him of genocide. Between ourselves : The last season

SUMMARY: "Between Ourselves" was a weekly series of hour-long radio programs that presented Canada to Canadians. It featured aspects of Canadian life in docudramas, plays, music, and interviews, originating fr;om different regions of Canada. The series ran from 1966 to 1979. This episode is a documentary about the British Columbia whaling industry, which came to an end in September 1967, and about "the 'poe;try' of whaling" (in the words of producer Norman Newton). It includes Nootkan whaling songs and stories by Peter Webster; the description of a whale hunt aboard the "Westwhale 8"; and interviews with; the vessel's crew members, including skipper and harpooner Captain Arne Borgen.;
