Papers relating to the Japanese relocation centre at Tashme, accumulated by Mrs. Winifred (McBride) Awmack who taught at the high school operated by the United Church Women's Missionary Society there from 1944 to 1946. The collection includes papers relating to the treatment of Japanese Canadians in general (copies of Orders-in-Council, notices, etc., re relocation; circular letters from church groups; copies of letters from residents of Tashme cancelling their requests for repatriation) and papers relating to the school and students: annual reports by teachers, 1945; the school annual Nisei Lycee, 1944 and 1945; letters to Mrs. Awmack from students, 1945 to 1983, from British Columbia, Eastern Canada, and Japan; nos. 1 and 2 of The Outlook, Toronto, 1947, a news sheet circulated amongst former Tashme students.
