Parents immigrated to Canada in 1905, father had been a surveyor in Japan, university-educated. He became foreman of Japanese station crews. Came to Canada for new "opportunity". Interview touches on fate of family's fortunes to present time -- a dramatic turn with WWII deportation to Alberta. (Subject is nearly blind as a result of an industrial accident in adult life.).
